In Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Titania is the Queen of the Fairies and married to Oberon, the King of the Fairies. Titania has a changeling boy that Oberon wants for his entourage but she refuses to hand him over. For revenge, Oberon instructs Puck to put the juice from a special flower into her eyes as she sleeps so that she will fall in love with the first creature that she sees upon awakening. The first creature she sees is Bottom, a rustic weaver transformed by Puck into an ass. Oberon has his laughs and finally asks Puck to break the spell.
